Trelya Community Café & Training Hub Sessional Chef

Location: Penzance – some local travel

Salary: £25,000 FTE

Hours: 24 hours per week over three days (Monday – Friday 8am – 4pm)

Contract: Sessional

We are looking for a kind, compassionate and experienced individual who has previously worked at Sous Chef level or above; a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual with a desire for sharing their knowledge, experience, and passion for good food with the individuals engaging in our training hub.

Our ideal candidate would need to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and kitchen organisation and would be responsible for upkeeping all kitchen records in accordance to current guidance. You would be required to be able to take responsibility of ordering stock and stock control, amongst other standard kitchen management duties.

We are seeking someone who can work both independently and as part of a team. Someone with a passion for simple, wholesome, seasonal and healthy food who can work alongside the café and training hub manager assisting in the delivery of our food-based group sessions and inspiring participants in our training kitchen, developing skills for life not just for the hospitality industry.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative charity, which is leading the way in addressing social exclusion. The Community Kitchen and Training Hub will build on existing services delivered at Trelya to ensure that Trelya consistently provides an enriching and educative environment giving children, young people and families the opportunity to develop and fulfil their aspirations and potential. Opportunities will be offered through the Community Kitchen and Training Hub and will include exploration of a wide range of food provision, training, accreditation, and seamless progression pathways.

Early Years Role (Part Time)

Location: Penzance – some local travel possible

Salary: £25,000 FTE

Hours: Tuesday – Friday (Part-time and full-time positions available)

Contract: Permanent

We are searching for the right person for this role. You may have experience within teaching, social work, early years or family work. You will be able to build trust and rapport with children and families from hard to reach backgrounds and have a strong belief in the positive impact of effective early intervention and the passion to make a difference to children’s lives.

Trelya (the Cornish word for ‘change’), is an award-winning charity working to enable positive change in West Cornwall’s most under resourced communities. We know from experience that the children, young people and families living in our communities are unique and skilled individuals with incredible potential. Trelya creates opportunities to fulfil that potential through provision of Skylar (rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted), an award-winning youth work and mentoring programme and ‘Gul,’ which is one of Cornwall’s successful trauma informed employment and training programmes.

Trelya is one of only a few projects that works with young people from prebirth through the life course and our outcomes demonstrate this makes a huge difference to ending the cycle of generational poverty and social exclusion. Trelya recognises the critical role early years’ care and education can play in a child’s development and the importance of excellent practitioners. Skylar delivers the best in early years’ care practice from prebirth to 4 years old, to those who need it most and their families, who would simply not be able to access it otherwise.
