Action Lescudjack, part funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, was a community focused project which ran from April 2023 to April 2024 which helped to establish Trelya as a community hub, providing services by the community, for the community. Action Lescudjack delivered an intensive and diverse programme which supported community involvement in local regeneration, decision making, food provision and education, youth participation and upskilling.
This project was part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Cornwall Council has been chosen by Government as a Lead Authority for the fund and is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Action Lescudjack worked with communities in Penzance and West Penwith.
A key element of the project was to build aspiration in young people to help them engage in education and employment fully and positively. Through the project young people had the opportunity to engage in skills development opportunities, gaining new experiences, skills, and accreditations.
Families and the wider community also accessed the food larder and nutrition education whilst Trelya’s holistic approach intertwined other services and support through the project including social, emotional, and practical intervention.
The project also provided opportunities for social action and leadership development – ensuring that the Hub delivered exactly what is needed to its community, in a way that maximises engagement.
This multi-faceted approach enabled the Action Lescudjack project to positively impact the living standards and life experiences of young people, families, and the wider community.
