These inequalities reflect the challenges families face and the barriers to support, not children’s ability or potential. We believe that where a child grows up should never determine what they can achieve.
Through our Skylar early years programme, we are already helping children and families overcome these barriers.
With your support, this purpose-built space, designed by specialist architects and informed by our 25 years of grassroots experience, will allow Trelya to double the number of children and families who can benefit from Skylar’s high-quality early years education and support.
What We're Building
We are transforming an outdated nursery site next to Trelya's community centre into a beautiful, purpose-built early years environment where children can learn, play, explore and flourish.
Our plans include a welcoming new nursery building, imaginative outdoor play spaces, a community garden and a Forest School area with an outdoor kitchen, creating opportunities for children to discover nature, develop confidence and learn through play.
The fully accessible building will include bright, flexible activity spaces, quiet sensory and therapy rooms, and a covered outdoor deck. Designed to be energy-efficient and economical to run, it will provide a sustainable home for Skylar Nursery for generations to come.

When children first joined Skylar, every child in our initial group was assessed as being below expected developmental levels for their age. After just one year of intensive support, 100% had caught up, reaching expected levels across every area of development assessed.
Behind these figures are children growing in confidence, developing friendships, discovering new skills and beginning school ready to learn.
Families are set up for success, gaining the support, reassurance and confidence they need to help their children flourish.
Our new nursery will build on this success, giving more children the chance to start school on an equal footing with their peers and opening doors to opportunities that can shape the rest of their lives.
